Overview of Sweden
and the Healthcare system
Sweden is the largest country in Scandinavia,
with a population of about 9 million.
The two largest cities are Stockholm
(the capital of Sweden) and Gothenburg.
All together about 1/3 of the total population
(approximately 1.9 million resp. 1.2 million)
live in these two cities.
The total amount of physicians is about 30,000, of
which 17 % are represented by general practitioners.
